BIRD – Henry Donald, b. 1787, d. 18 Dec 1881, East Mapleton, Cumb. Co., NS
Submitted by Wayne R. Bird Apr-03

I have quite a lot of info on the origins of the Bird family in the area of East Mapleton, Nova Scotia, but am still searching.

In particular I am trying to learn more about Henry Donald Bird, b.1787 – d. Dec.18,1881. He had two wives. Second wife was Ann Maria Brown, but I have a major blank when I try to find anything on his first wife, or anything about his children by his first wife. His son was, I believe, John Sidney, 1812-1883, who had two children, Crane and Maria. I have nothing past this point.

Also, Henry had a brother with him when he first arrived there, but I can find no information on him whatever.

Anything you can do to help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

And, before you ask, yes I am related to Will R. Bird. His great grandfather is my great, great, great grandfath

BRODIE – Edward, b. bet 1790 – 1815, Westmorland Co., NB & Cumberland Co., NS
Submitted by Barb (Brodie) Kineke Feb-17

Hello, I am searching first for Edward Brodie born in Scotland possibly anywhere from 1790s to maybe 1829. I need a birth and death on him as well as burial site. All i have is mention of him in a marriage to Emily Davis April 8, 1833 Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada. I am searching a birth, death and burial site of Emily as well, she may have passed on as Emily Vanamburgh. Emily is daughter of Thomas and Sarah Davis, Thomas and Sarah both born Westmorland Parish, Westmorland, New Brunswick. Emily had a brother named Stephen who married Pheobe Anderson. I am seeking the birth, death and burial places of Thomas and Sarah Davis and their parentage.
Edward and Emily had the following children:
-Stuart or James Brodie born Aug 30, 1834 married Florenda Baxter
-Colon Campbell Brodie (my great great grandfather) was born Aug 6, 1835 in Bayside, New Brunswick and married Margaret May Wells. (Margaret daughter of Charles and Susan Ward Wells.) I am searching for birth and death and burial places for Charles and Susan as well as their parentage.
-Ann Catharine Brodie born July 22, 1838 in Botsford Parish, New Brunswick and married Benjamin Reed Filmore
-Thomas born about 1841
-Sarah Jane Brodie born New Brunswick about 1845 married Robert Vanember (Vanamburgh)This is where it gets strange because Sarah Janes mother Emily Davis Brodie later marries Robert Vanembers brother Gideon Van Ember around 1860 so either my Edward Brodie is dead by then or left Emily. But how wierd is that, she marries her daughters brother in law!
-Lucitta Brodie is the last child born around 1848 and married Benjamin Sudsbury.
This is what I know of Edward. Any help would be much appreciated or if anyone has descended from any of these lines. Alot of the families went into the United States. I know that at least two of Stuarts children remained in Canada. Charlotte or Lottie Brodie married Frederick William McKay and Martha Alice Brodie married Theodore Peter Peters and both of these lines i believe stayed in Canada, Martha died in Nova Scotia and is buried in Seaview, Cemetery in Bayview, Nova Scotia and Charlotte died in St. John and is buried at Port Elgin Fernwood.
Colon settled first in Maine, USA and then in MA, USA where he and his wife died.
Ann Catharine Brodie Fillmore ended up in Oklahoma, USA where she and her husband died.
Thomas i do not have any information on
Sarah Jane Brodie Vanember i am thinking stayed in Canada but some of her family went to the USA
Lucitta Brodie Sudsbury went into MA, USA.
I have an 1851 census of Botsford Parish with Emily and her two daughters Catherine and Lucelly with the surname of Braddie. Edward and the rest of the children are not there. Living with Emilys brother Stephen and his family are her two children Stuart and Sarah as servants. They are listed with the surname Broddie. I hope to hear from someone who is connected or can help me. Thank you, Barb Brodie Kineke at micknbarb1980@yahoo.com
