Post Daniel D. Ward m. Harriet Newell Cook

My ancestors were from Nova Scotia, married in Yarmouth. I can't find anything that says they ever lived there other than what it says in census for birth and birth of parents. No birth, marriage or anything for Daniel b. 1804 and Harriet b. 1821. I'd like to find Daniel's parents. I have everything for Harriet back to the Mayflower. Daniel has nothing and with the age difference between him and Harriet I wonder if there is a 1st Mrs. Ward. I can't even get a lead on him. In discussion with others looking for him, we wonder if he went to NS because he supported the king. Or was he in legal trouble for some reason. It seems odd that Harriet is so easily traced but Daniel has no history. Would it be that there just aren't any records from Nova Scotia from 1804? He and Harriet are living in Ralls County, MO, USA in 1860, from there they go to Illinois, USA. I need Daniel's parents. Would there be paper work for a border crossing from NS to US before 1850? I'm at a loss as to where to look next. I seem to be going in circles.
